Are you a way-maker or an excuse-maker?
Let’s look into the story of when Jesus was looking for disciples over people who would stake an excuse to get out of doing His will!
“And as Jesus and His disciples were walking along the road, a man said to Him, ‘I will follow You wherever You go.’ Jesus replied, ‘The foxes have holes to live in, and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man (Himself) has nowhere to lay His head.’” (Luke 9:57-58)
This first man staked the excuse for not following Jesus because of the familiar comforts he didn’t want to lose. Jesus’ current accommodations weren’t to this particular man’s liking. Now, let’s take a look at the second man…
“Then Jesus said to another man, ‘Follow Me.’ But the man replied, ‘Permit me first to go and bury my father.’ “But Jesus said to Him, ‘Let the dead bury their own dead; but as for you, you go and proclaim everywhere the Kingdom of God.’” (Luke 9:59-60)
The second man’s father wasn’t dead physically – he was dead spiritually (i.e., he wasn’t a believer in Jesus). The result? The second man staked the excuse which wasn’t “comforts” yet “family ties.” Now, let’s look at the third man…
“Still another man said, ‘I will follow You, Lord; but first let me go back and say good-bye to my friends at home.’” [Jesus replied] “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the Kingdom of God.”
(Luke 9:61-62)
This third man was trying to stake the excuse of divided loyalties by attempting to hold on to Jesus with one hand and his past with the other hand. Let’s examine these 3 EXCUSE-STAKERS…
Summary of Excuses
Man #1 – “Familiar Comforts”
Man #2 – “Family Ties”
Man #3 – “Divided Loyalties”
What does this mean for you? The Spirit of the Lord wants to speak to the WAY-MAKER in you, because the enemy wants to use the spirit of excuses, to keep you from making your way to your illustrious future in God!
The Lord says that during this Psalm 92 Miracle season, you’re going to have to let go of familiar comforts! Hallelujah! The Lord says you’re even going to have cut some family ties because there are specific relationships that are holding you back! Glory to God! The Lord says that you must not allow any kind of divided loyalty to keep you from making your way into your future! It’s time to sell-out to Jesus! HALLELUJAH!
Today, the Lord is asking you the question, ARE YOU A WAY-MAKER OR AN EXCUSE-STAKER? Here’s why:
- WAY-MAKERS follow God’s will for their lives at all costs!
- EXCUSE-STAKERS only stake their own excuses into failure!
- WAY-MAKERS remove obstacles that are in their way to freedom!
- EXCUSE- STAKERS stake ways to stay bound by their circumstances!
- WAY-MAKERS create solutions in the face of adversity!
- EXCUSE-STAKERS stake their problems and do nothing to fix them!
